Slovenian Ceh becomes the 4th record performer in history
Slovenian Kristjan Ceh (24) threw the discus at 71.86m on Friday in Jöhvi (Estonia), becoming the 4th best performer in history, European athletics announced on its social networks. With his throw, the world’s best performance of the year, Ceh joins in history his Swedish competitor Daniel Stahl and the thrower from the former USSR Yuriy Dumchev, who also have a record at 71.86 m. He is still ahead of Estonian Gerd Kanter (73.38m in 2006), Lithuanian Virgilijus Alekna (73.88m in 2000) and German Jürgen Schult (74.08m), world record holder since 1986.
Crowned world champion in Eugene (United States) last summer, Kritjan Ceh took 5th place at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. His performances are all the more noticeable as the throwing disciplines are usually dominated by athletes more experienced. Reigning Olympic champion, Stahl (30) took second place in the competition on Friday in Estonia with a throw of 71.45m, the third best of his career.
