Alex Palou (Chip Gani) won the Road America Grand Prix, his third victory of the season, to accentuate his dominance in the IndyCar championship, Sunday at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

The 26-year-old Spaniard made the difference seven laps from the finish, overtaking the American Colton Herta (Andretti) who started from pole position but only finished 5th. His compatriot Josef Newgarden (Penske) and Mexican Pato O’Ward (McLaren) completed the podium.

“I am very happy. We will try to continue our momentumcommented Palou. He has already won the Indianapolis Grand Prix last month and the Detroit Grand Prix two weeks earlier. Meanwhile, he had finished fourth in the Indianapolis 500 won by Newgarden. He has already won the IndyCar championship in 2021.

He remains in the lead overall with 324 points, ahead of Sweden’s Marcus Ericsson (Chip Gani) at 74 points and Newgarden, third, at 81 points. On the French side, Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank) ranked 14th, and Romain Grosjean (Andretti) 25th.
