INTERVIEW – Doctor of public law, Mélody Mock-Gruet analyzes the legislative work after a particularly turbulent year.

LE FIGARO. – After a year of this particularly turbulent mandate, has the legislative work changed?
Melody MOCK-GRUET. – Yes, impressively. The first observation is thatin one yearthe deputies regained control of The national embly. Unlike previous legislatures, where the government largely controlled the agenda, the Lower House is essential: out of a hundred bills discussed, 71 come from parliamentary initiative with bills. In addition, the ratio of amendments adopted by the executive has dropped considerably: out of 730 tabled, only 323 were ultimately accepted by the deputies, i.e. less than half. On the other hand, under the XVe legislature, on the strength of the majority fact, most of its amendments had been adopted (701 out of 798).
