Immigration: anatomy of a trap | The echoes

There are connoted words. That of “rupture” is one, as it refers to Nicolas Sarkozy marking his distance with Jacques Chirac to better succeed him. Edouard Philippe takes it up and applies it to a subject on which we did not expect it: immigration. The number of foreigners is increasing, the share of those coming from Africa too, without this being the result of a political choice. “It’s an immigration of the accomplished fact”, says in “L’Express” the one who does not want to be afraid of words.

He says them loudly. You have to “take back control” (like LR); “On creve des undits” (about the link between immigration and delinquency); the increase in the number of foreigners “participates in the embolism of many of our public services”; “Islamist communitarianism is a threat”. We must therefore react, and if the Darmanin-Dussopt law is “necessary, I know it is not sufficient”.
