Defeated during the dam to accession to the Top 14 by Perpignan, FC Grenoble, resident of Pro D2, was relegated to National by the Disciplinary Council of French Rugby for financial reasons.
This is called an emotional lift. FC Grenoble, resident of Pro D2, was seeking a place in the Top 14 this weekend again but was defeated by Perpignan (19-33). And this Tuesday, the club was even relegated administratively to National by the “Regulation” formation of the French Rugby Disciplinary Council, “the observation of the forecast negative restated net position at June 30, 2023 and the level of uncovered 2023-2024 budgetary uncertainties“.
The punishment does not end there. The control authorities also withdraw four points from the FCG for next season, in addition to the two points suspended since December 1, 2022. That is a total of six points less for the 2023-2024 season.
The Regulatory Authority (A2R) has been closely following for several months the management of the deficit of the team playing at the Stade des Alpes. Three points had already been removed from the Pro D2 standings at the end of 2022. Grenoble now has a period of 7 days to appeal decisions.
