Felix Gall wins the 4th stage and takes the yellow jersey

Austrian Felix Gall won the 4th stage of the Tour of Switzerland, after 154 km between Monthey and Loèche-les-Bains, stealing the command of the general clification from Dane Mattias Skjelmose for two seconds. Already on board the day before in the first mountain stage, which he had completed 3 seconds from Skjelmose, the 2015 junior world champion (AG2R) attacked 20 km from the finish, at the start of the long climb towards the Valais spa, picking up the survivors of the day’s breakaway before finishing alone.

Dropped several times in the irregular final ascent, the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) was able to come back to take second place at 1 min 02, ahead of Mattias Skjelmose (Trek-Segafredo) at 1 min 03. Overall, Gall, 25 – 9th at 1:07 on Wednesday morning – wears the yellow jersey two seconds ahead of Skjelmose while Evenepoel drops to third place, 16 seconds behind.
