Parliamentarians warn of the dangerousness of per- and polyfluoroalkyls (PFAS) after analyzes revealing the presence of these toxic substances in their hair.
After the “rare earths” in the hair of senators, it is the turn of the “eternal pollutants” to invite themselves on the heads of the elected members of the National embly. Independently of the initiative of the parliamentarians of the Upper House, fourteen deputies from Europe Écologie Les Verts (EELV) agreed to submit a lock of their hair to a laboratory, in search of toxic substances: per- and polyfluoroalkyls (PFAS, pronounced “ pissing off “). Spearheading this fight against these pollutants, the environmental deputy for Gironde Nicolas Thierry shared the results of the analyzes on Wednesday. In all, eight PFAS out of the twelve sought were detected on the follicles of the chosen ones.
