Different people, including Neymar, were on the starting grid for the Spanish Grand Prix during the warm-up lap in early June. The FIA will take action.
Access to the grid, not too much is needed. According to the British magazine Motorsport the FIA will soon be toughening its stance on access to the starting grid for Formula 1 Grand Prix. Celebrities and journalists generally have access to it in the minutes preceding the start, but a limit would have been crossed in the eyes of the FIA, in particular by the Brazilian footballer Neymar.
On June 4, several people, including the Paris Saint-Germain striker, were still on the edge of the circuit at the Spanish Grand Prix when the warm-up lap had started. The question of security would arise within the FIA, already marked by the intrusion of several spectators during the Australian Grand Prix last April.
“We must learn from the incident at the Spanish Grand Prixsaid FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. Restrictions could thus come into force regarding access to the starting grid. A great Formula 1 fan, Neymar was in Barcelona at the beginning of June to attend the race, a week having already made it to the Monaco Grand Prix.
