DECRYPTION – Budget, strategic alliances, defense Europe… The left-wing partners are divided over the military programming law.

NATO and other alliances, Europe, armaments, nuclear deterrence… Within Nupes, the field of defense is a vast subject of debate. Often old, even historic, they have been manifesting themselves for more than a week now in the embly, on the occasion of the examination of the military programming bill (LPM).

The debates are an opportunity for each of the members of the alliance, rebels, socialists, communists and ecologists, to express their own vision and proposals. The positions decide. “We will not say that we agree on nothing, but it is true that we do not agree on everything“, quips an LFI deputy.

A historical divide

Already on the budget, environmentalists and communists do not want to increase the resources dedicated to defense, when the socialists are in favor of an increase and when the rebels are proposing capacity amendments which will cost several billion additional euros.
