In Nice, the mayor Christian Estrosi issues an order against the arrival of Dieudonné and Tariq Ramadan
For the city councilor, they are not welcome. Christian Estrosi, mayor of the city of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), announced on Friday that he had issued orders prohibiting the arrival of controversial comedian Dieudonné and of Islamologist Tariq Ramadanscheduled for the next few days.
Comedian and polemicist Dieudonné, frequently singled out for his anti-Semitic protrusions, was to perform in the city of the Alpes-Maritimes this Saturday at 8 p.m., for his new show, “Foutu pour foutu”. The exact location of the performance is not yet specified, and must be communicated by SMS or e-mail to ticket holders.
But the polemicist’s program risks being undermined by the mayor of Nice: Christian Estrosi confirmed this Friday on BFM Côte d’Azur, having issued a new decree “to prohibit this representation”. “We will mobilize everything we can to prevent him from making this representation”, insisted Christian Estrosi.
“It’s been 15 years since Mr. Dieudonné failed to give a performance in Nice because I always made sure that we tracked him down so as not to allow him to do so,” added the elected official.
“Nice cannot accept anti-Semitism, xenophobia”
For his part, the Islamologist Tariq Ramadan, who has just been acquitted in a trial in Switzerland where he was accused of , but who is being prosecuted for similar facts in France, plans to host a “literary lunch” on June 4, also in Nice. On the program, a discussion around “The Alchemist”, novel by Paulo Coelho, then a “meditative reflection”, to believe Instagram account of the teacher. The place of the meeting, again, is not specified.
Christian Estrosi, again, explained that he planned to “do the same thing for Tariq Ramadan, with the same firmness”, that is to say take an order to prevent this literary meeting. “Nice is not a city that can accept both those who have to answer for violence against women, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, racism. All of these are subjects that are out of Nice, that I have never tolerated, and that I will never tolerate, ”thundered the mayor.
