WhatsApp will finally allow its users to edit sent messages
It’s a change that should reure distracted WhatsApp users. It will soon be possible to edit a message on the app up to 15 minutes after it has been sent. A parameter change that will take place “within a few weeks” in France according to information from the “Parisian” collected from Meta, the owner of the mobile application used by two billion people each month.
” You made a mistake ? Have you changed your mind ? No problem, ”explains WhatsApp in a statement published Monday evening. “We are pleased to give you more control over your discussions,” adds the platform. From now on, Internet users will therefore be able to correct a spelling error or modify the meaning of a message sent sometimes a little too quickly.
Generalization of the modification
To edit a message that has just been sent, simply press and hold it. A window will then appear, with a line containing the words “modify” which will allow you to change the content of the message. The new version will display the mention “modified” for the sender and the recipient, but it will not be possible to see the modification history.
Before WhatsApp, other applications have recently implemented message editing, such as iMessage, Apple’s messaging on iPhones, or even Twitter, with the possibility of editing a tweet up to 30 minutes after publication for a user subscribed to Twitter Blue .
