Atlético Madrid makes short work of Osasuna and overtakes Real

Second place at stake! Atlético Madrid outcled Osasuna 3-0 on Sunday for the 35th day of La Liga, and overtook Real Madrid to temporarily climb to second place in the standings, before the Merengues match in the evening (6:30 p.m.) in Valencia.

It was Antoine Griezmann who allowed the Colchoneros to open the scoring just before the break (45th), by offering the 1-0 ball to Yannick Carrasco on a plateau. Then Saul Niguez doubled the bet on the hour mark (61st) with a superb sequence of chest control – right shot, before Angel Correa sealed the victory from the right (83rd).

Faced with the men of Jagoba Arrasate, who was his coach at Real Sociedad, Griezmann again burst the screen.

With this new decisive p, the 13th of the season in La Liga, the “Little Prince” with now bleached hair consolidates his place as the best per in the championship. Add his thirteen goals, and you have the most decisive player in La Liga.

Thanks to these three points, the Colchoneros once again put a little pressure on Real Madrid: second with thirteen points behind FC Barcelona (85 points), defeated 2-1 by Real Sociedad on Saturday evening at Camp Nou, the Diego Simeone’s men, authors of an excellent second half of the season, will have three more matches to try to dislodge Real.

By the end of the season, however, Simeone will have to monitor the state of health of his striker Alvaro Morata: the Spanish international, stunned after a shock with the captain of Osasuna David Garcia at the start of the action of the first goal, had to give way at the break to Angel Correa.
