Ferrari accelerates during free practice 2 of the 6 Hours of Spa

Disturbed by a Full Course Yellow and two red flags, the second free practice session at Spa was even extended by ten minutes. In these conditions, it was difficult for the drivers and the teams to find the rhythm, and that was good news for Ferrari, whose two 499Ps found themselves in the first two places, with a time of 2’01″87 for the n°51 (Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi), and 2’03″14 for n°50 (Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen). For the first named, it is two and a half seconds faster than during the first session.

In third place we find the Cadillac n°2 (Bamber-Lynn-Westbrook), 1.46 behind the Ferrari n°51. You have to go down to 4th place to find the first Toyota, the n°8 (Buemi-Hartley -Hirakawa), who finished at 2.50, but one can imagine that the Toyota clan worked more for the race than for qualifying.

The first Peugeot, the n°93 (Di Resta-Jensen-Vergne), is 5th at 3″30, ahead of the Glickenhaus n°708 (Dumas-Pla-Mailleux), at 3″67. The official Porsches, which were not spared by the problems (transmission for the n°5, hybrid for the n°6) finished 11th and 13th in the category.
