The Manchester City coach spoke after his team’s victory over Bayern in the quarter-finals on Tuesday evening (3-0). And is already planning on the return match.
Pep Guardiola (coach of Manchester City, winner of Bayern Munich 3-0 in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League): “For 55/60 minutes it was a very close match. At times they were better than us. We had scored through Rodri but we couldn’t control them in small spaces, with Musiala and Gnabry. At the start of the second half, they created the best chances but we made some corrections and scored three magnificent goals. For the return match, I expect everything. In a game, anything is possible. The players on the pitch and on the edge of the pitch saw Bayern’s performance, I don’t need to warn them. They are really very good, their games in group and so far have been excellent and in the European Cup, we know that this team is special. To bring out this type of team, you have to play two good matches, not just one. (…) This match was not easy at all. Emotionally I’m destroyed, I turned ten today. Now I have to rest, we have a rest day and we will have to prepare Leicester. We will go to Munich to score a goal and win the match, not to defend our lead.» Comments collected during a press conference.
